SUP yoga means literally "stand-up paddleboarding yoga” - combination of yoga asanas with a variation of stand-up paddleboard surfing in the middle of a lake or another flat surface of water.
It’s
a bit challenging because you need to another level of balance, and
it’s definitely worth it.
So, Lets dive into the
benefits of this type of yoga.
1. The practice is more effective
Since the SUP is on the water, you need to be able to balance on it. You will strain your body more than during yoga on the floоr. You will notice results very soon.
2. Focus on breathing
During the practice you will slow down and change positions as smoothly as possible. It allows you to focus more on your breathing and have better control over it.
3. Blood circulations
Along with breath control comes improved blood circulation benefits. This promotes a healthier body and helps destress your mind, ultimately working towards improved emotional wellness.
4. Has a calming effect
As you know, water itself has a relaxing effect and you can easily get rid of stress and anxious thoughts. You can just take a moment and sit on the board thinking about nothing. Just let if flow. Meditation itself.
5. Gets you closer to the nature
It's great if there is an opportunity to practice in nature - on a lake or in a river. Breathing in fresh air and being surrounded by water is a proven method to improve your mood.
6. Improve your technique
Floating board takes you on another level. You will feel harmony with your body and get advanced in some asanas - if you don’t transfer the weight correctly, then the floating board will let you know about it right away.
7. Adds adrenaline
It's definitely not boring activity. As we noted in the previous paragraph, it is worth losing control and the probability of being in the water is very high. But if you don’t have a fear of water, it will be even funny.
8. Teaches you to struggle with problems
If you do fall into the water, the only thing you have to do is get back on the board and try again. It's like in life. Perhaps these workouts will teach you patience.
9. It's just beautiful
There is nothing to explain here. You are alone with nature. Air and water - all this can not be compared with the gym. This is how you can enter into harmony with yourself and nature and feel the moment.
10. This paragraph is open for you
We have described enough of the benefits of SUP yoga. Now its just a matter of trying and find what is valuable exactly for you in this practice.
Enjoy!
